The Art Process

Below are some photos of me through the years. These are behind the scenes in my 'art studio' even though I do not have a private studio right now. I wish. I paint out of my bedroom on an old gray table. I also paint on a folded black table sometimes. I used an easel briefly back in 2020 when I had it assembled. Then I moved and could not put it up again.

You see me holding my trusty metal scraper. That is because it has sentimental value at this point. In 2019, I used it exclusively. I only recently started using brushes for something different. I never felt brushes had great freedom. I love using unique tools.

I use thick sponges, rags, my fingers..whatever works. From this photo below, you see a big brush. I like the big ones. But the ones I did in December were done with a medium one.

This is me in 2020, holding: 'Life Lines'. This painting
is no longer available on canvas.

I painted on wood beams in 2019,
and sadly they got holes in them
from wood insects from lack
of sealing in time.

This is 'Outside the Box' halfway through.

This is from January of 2021: 'Breath of Life'
in the middle of painting.

This is Summer of 2021. I was hyped up
on the song with the same title of the
painting: 'For This You Were Born'. I made
a video with this painting and song, check
it out on my youtube channel.

This is Summer of 2022. Painting called: Dreamscapes.

This is me in 2019 holding a painted wood
piece.

This is me in August 2019. Original
photo was blurry so this is the best
I can fix it. I always loved this photo

This is me in late Winter of 2019 with my
favorite tool-the metal scraper.

This is from December 2025. This is a tease of
one of the new paintings I am showing
by invitation only.

'What Remains Hidden'

This is in 2021, In front of: 'Liquid Waves'

I apologize for the poor quality of some of the photos. They were taken with an app camera timer, and came out blurry.

My art process consists often of music as well. I have playlists going of softer, more fluid, sounds from Indie Rock, and Folk, and Dreampop.

Sometimes the process is fast, and a painting takes fifteen minutes. Other times, it takes thirty to forty five minutes. Sometimes I come back a few hours later, when part of it dries, to add another layer.

I have debated on not signing my Paintings on the front. But recently, I decided to sign them on front and back. The reason is because if someone likes my painting in a different orientation, upside down, etc then my signature will turn upside doiwn also. I want people to hang it in a way that speaks to them, but I guess the pressure of signing it is too strong, and is expected of me, so all paintings will have front and back.

I also have paintings that have natural paint splashes on them, on the back as part of the process. I lay paintings flat mostly, and paint somehow makes it's way back there.

Painting is like going to the beach, and stepping in sand, then water, then having a mess to clean up. It is a messy experience, but raw and wonderful.

*** Note that some of these paintings not on canvas are part of my weekly rotation where I post on this blog, one painting a week up for print.
